Weir wary over final talk

Skipper David Weir insists it is far too soon for Rangers to even think about repeating their efforts of 2008 and going all the way in the Europa League this season. The Scottish champions defied the odds when they progressed to the UEFA Cup final almost three years ago, only to lose out on the silverware to Zenit St Petersburg in Manchester. They defeated one of their opponents from that run, Sporting Lisbon, in the last round of the Europa League this time around to book a last-16 clash with PSV Eindhoven. But, as far as Weir is concerned, nobody at Ibrox is getting carried away just yet. He said: "We've still got a long way to go. We are only in the last 16 so there is still a long way to go to reach the level we got to the last time. "But it's a nice position to be in, it's nice to be involved in Europe in March. When you look at the quality of teams left in the competition, and the standard throughout the competition, it's a good level to be playing at and it's something we all enjoy."
