Webster focused on tricky Killie test

Andy Webster has told Rangers to forget about their Old Firm derby triumph and focus on the Co-operative Insurance Cup tie at Kilmarnock.[LNB] The defender, who did not make the squad on Sunday, believes the Scottish champions will receive a boost from their win over Celtic.[LNB]But he knows Rangers will be under pressure to deliver again in Wednesday night's quarter-final at Rugby Park as the holders bid to take another step closer to retaining the silverware.[LNB]He said: "Sunday's game was an important one for the boys so they can feel quite happy at the moment.[LNB]"Going away to Celtic Park and being able to win in the manner in which they did will give them confidence and I'm sure they will kick on from here for the rest of the season.[LNB]"At a club like Rangers, you must win every football match.[LNB]"Sunday is gone and it was great but the boys will be focusing now on the game against Kilmarnock, which is going to be a tricky tie."[LNB]Webster has put his injury troubles behind him but has struggled to force his way into boss Walter Smith's plans and has made just one appearance so far this season, in the 7-2 win over Dunfermline in the last round of the cup.[LNB]Smith said: "This is the longest spell he has had fit for us but unfortunately for him the team has been playing exceptionally well and it's difficult for him to get a regular game. He will get an opportunity in this game."[LNB]Several fringe players are likely to be given a taste of the action tonight and Smith has backed them to cope.[LNB]He said: "We want to go into all our games and be as successful as we can be.[LNB]"Even though we have a smaller group, we still want to win the games. We've got enough players to make changes and do well.[LNB]"It's slightly awkward when we have been playing with roughly the same team to bring in lads who have maybe not had a lot of games.[LNB]"Richard Foster came in last week and played a Champions League game after having had hardly any game time this season.[LNB]"We asked a lot of him and he came through it very well.[LNB]"Some of the boys who come into this game will be a bit short of game time but I'm sure they will handle themselves as well as Richard did last week."[LNB]Kilmarnock have taken only one point from a possible 12 in the SPL since their impressive 3-1 win over Hibernian in the previous round.[LNB]But manager Mixu Paatelainen is confident only a few minor tweaks to their game are needed.[LNB]"We've been very bright, our passing game has been good," he said.[LNB]"We've created loads of chances and defended well for the majority of the time.[LNB]"We've made some mistakes and the recent trend has been that any mistake made, the team has punished us.[LNB]"It's been a little bit unfortunate but we do realise we need to defend better and be a bit tougher mentally, and also attacking-wise put one or two more chances away.[LNB]"We must defend well collectively because Rangers will attack. If we are solid like that, I'm quietly optimistic that we will have a good performance."
