We can grind out results - Foster

Richard Foster insists Rangers have enough battlers in their team to see them through a tense title run-in after scraping an unconvincing win at Hamilton.

Nikica Jelavic grabbed the only goal of the game as the Scottish champions moved back within two points of Celtic at the summit of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

Foster said: "At this stage of the season it's about winning games and it doesn't really matter how you play - it's just about getting three points."

He added: "We have a lot of battlers in the team - a lot of quality too - but when things aren't going well for us we have a determination and strength to grind out results.

"We have winners like Kirk Broadfoot and Lee McCulloch coming back from injury so that'll make us stronger in the title race."

Next up for Rangers midweek is on-loan defender Foster's own team, Aberdeen, and he claims he has no idea why they always raise their game against the Ibrox side.

He said: "In the week leading up to the game it's hyped up as a really big game. You always suspect that if you don't put in a good performance against either side of the Old Firm you could get turned over.

"I think that's always in the back of your mind when you're playing against either Rangers or Celtic. There is obviously a bit more history between Aberdeen and Rangers than Aberdeen and Celtic - and that adds a bit more spice to it.

"But it's difficult to actually pinpoint why it is that Aberdeen tend to do better against Rangers."
