Walters tips Miller for move south

Former Rangers winger Mark Walters believes Kenny Miller is good enough for another crack at the Barclays Premier League.

Former Derby and Wolves hitman Miller, who turns 31 this month, is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and has been linked with a return south of the border.

Asked whether Miller could still impress in England's top flight, Walters said: "I don't see why not. He has scored goals in the Premier League before and, in the right team and the right situation, I think he could still do it. For me, he is peaking now."

He added: "He's almost 31 and he will probably score more goals in the next two seasons than ever before because he is experienced, he knows what runs to make and where the ball is going to land, he has good anticipation.

"I don't think he is over the hill by any means. He is a player Rangers need to keep to win the league."

Steven Naismith is another player who has been linked with a move away from Ibrox and Walters would fear for Rangers' title hopes if they did lose key personnel in January.

He added: "It's absolutely vital to keep these players. It doesn't matter how well or badly you play, if you haven't got the goalscorers to finish off those moves, you're not going to win anything.

"Unfortunately, at the moment money does talk. If a club came in with an unbelievable bid, Rangers would have to at least think about it.

"If Rangers are going to win the league, they need to keep their best players and, without a doubt, their best goalscorers as well.

"If I was Rangers, I wouldn't be selling any players until the end of the season at least."
