Until last weekend, the Ibrox club had trailed their arch-rivals since November, even falling seven points adrift after losing the Old Firm derby at the end of 2008.[LNB]But, less than two months later, Rangers now find themselves leading the title race on goal difference.[LNB]Describing the view from the top of the table, assistant manager McCoist told Rangers News: "It's a great view, it really is.[LNB]"I'm thrilled to be there. It seems a long, long time since we have been there.[LNB]"But we know what the most important thing is, and that's staying there."[LNB]Manager Walter Smith revealed after Rangers went top last weekend he was surprised how quickly they had closed the gap.[LNB]McCoist agrees, saying: "The reason we are there is because we've been doing quite well and getting good results, which is the most important thing.[LNB]"The fact that has probably surprised me a little bit is that we are back on top so soon after Celtic won the game at Ibrox."[LNB]He added: "The players, since the defeat against Celtic, have been great, they really have.[LNB]"They've knuckled down and got some good results.[LNB]"I think they felt a little bit harshly treated in the Celtic game in terms of the result and I'd probably go along with them.[LNB]"But, having lost the game, all you can ask is that the players react in the right manner and that is to go out and get results and keep the pressure on Celtic.[LNB]"So far, they've answered all the questions but it's important that they keep doing it."[LNB]Rangers have the chance to put Celtic under further pressure when they travel to Hamilton on Saturday lunchtime.[LNB]But Billy Reid's men are currently the form team in the SPL, having won six of their last seven games.[LNB]"Any team in the SPL would be very proud of that particular record," McCoist told Rangers World.[LNB]"If any of our players think for a minute it's going to be an easy game, you just have to look at their record."[LNB]He added: "They've been terrific this year, absolutely terrific.[LNB]"I honestly believe that wee Billy will have them thinking that they've got an opportunity to get into the top six - and so they should."[LNB][LNB] Rangers 2/5[LNB], Draw 10/3[LNB], Hamilton 8/1[LNB]
