Thomson suffers ankle woe
06 Oct 2008 - 10:53:51
Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson could miss Scotland's World Cup clash with Norway after suffering a suspected broken bone in his foot during Sunday's 1-0 defeat at St Mirren.
Thomson sustained the injury after colliding with the Buddies' Garry Brady and Gers boss Walter Smth fears the worst.
He said: "His ankle is badly swollen but I didn't have the chance to speak to him after he came off. It's fair to say he's a major doubt for Scotland."
On his side's shock defeat at Love Street, Smith added: "We had a lot of possession in the early part of the game but we were a bit too slow in moving the ball.
"We had the territorial advantage but we just didn't do anything with it.
"Given the amount of possession we had, we never created any clear-cut opportunities. St Mirren worked very hard to prevent us doing that.
"We struggled to create anything until the last 20 minutes when through a force of numbers we looked as though we could get a goal or two."
