Thomson, 36, takes charge of the Hampden showpiece for the first time and will be assisted by Lawrence Kerrigan and Willie Dishington, with Steve Conroy acting as fourth official. Thomson, who has been refereeing in the Scottish Premier League since 2002, was involved in the 2008 European Championship as a fourth official and has taken charge of World Cup qualifiers, and Champions League and UEFA Cup matches. He told the Scottish Football Association's official website: "It's the pinnacle of any referee's career to get your national cup final. "And to get the phone call to say I was being appointed was fantastic." The Scottish Cup final between Rangers and Falkirk takes place on Saturday, May 30.
