Tam Plunkett - A practical memorial

This July will mark five years since we lost Tam - the founder of the North American Rangers Supporters Association. He was a human dynamo and is sadly missed. You can read more about him here - http://tinyurl.com/TamPlunkettWith permission of the family we're going to mark his passing by fundraising for a good cause.Tam was a staunch Presbyterian, Orangeman and supporter of the British Commonwealth - taking all those things together I think we've found a very appropriate recipient for his memorial donations. In the former British colony of Belize in Central America there's a town called Orange Walk where the Presbyterian Church of Belize has founded the New Life Elementary School. The name of the town would bring a smile to Tam!Presbyterianism arrived in Belize with Scottish immigrants in 1850. The Orange Walk District is largely populated by Spanish-speaking people of Mayan ancestry. The school recently had a third storey added and it would greatly benefit from funds to help finish the project - the third floor has some classrooms and an auditorium. The school has an enrollment of 217 students and a staff of ten teachers.Ismael Vallejos is the General Manager of Presbyterian Schools in Belize and he says "We are setting up a library and we could use the donation to get furniture, shelves, tables and books. Even one or two computers."Tam Plunkett put so much into life - as President of NARSA and so many other ways - it would be tremendous if his memory was honoured in this way. Please give what you can.Donations can be made online - http://tinyurl.com/Plunkett2010
