Sporting keen on Pedro Mendes move

Sporting boss Carlos Carvalhal has revealed former Portsmouth star Mendes, who moved to Ibrox in the summer of 2008, is on his radar.[LNB]The 30-year-old Portuguese has been out for two months with a knee injury, but he trained at Murray Park yesterday and is expected to be fully fit in a fortnight.[LNB]Sporting coach Carlos Carvalhal said in the Scottish Sun: "It is normal that we look at a player of this quality.[LNB]"But the matter does not just depend on me.[LNB]"A lot will depend on my directors and what they want to do."[LNB]Scottish Premier League record goalscorer Boyd is out of contract a the end of the season and is currently free to hold talks with other clubs, with Birmingham and Middlesbrough reported suitors.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
