Smith tracks Stefanovic

Rangers boss Walter Smith has confirmed that he is interested in signing Portsmouth's veteran defender Dejan Stefanovic.

The 32-year-old Serbia international has fallen down the pecking order at Fratton Park and Smith is monitoring the situation ahead of the transfer window shutting.

He told the club's official website: "Stefanovic is one of a few players we are looking at and will continue to look at until the transfer window is closed.

"We have to continue to look for players for one or two positions where we feel we might be a little bit short.

"We have been looking at some players, but it doesn't necessarily mean that we will act."
