Smith plays down Gers loss

Rangers boss Walter Smith refused to get too carried away by his side's 1-0 defeat at Aberdeen, their first in the SPL this season.

A Lee Miller strike downed the Gers at Pittodrie and allowed Celtic to take over at the top of the league table.

However, Smith commented: "We started slowly and Aberdeen were brighter than we were. We came into the game after 20 minutes and dictated from there.

"We were helped by the fact Aberdeen went down to ten men for the last half-hour, but I felt the slow start dictated the match for us in many ways.

"We had a lot of pressure, but little creation in terms of what we were doing.

"It is our first loss this season and only our second this year. The game was there for the taking for us, but we didn't do it."
