Smith laments injury pile-up
09 Apr 2009 - 08:41:13
Rangers manager Walter Smith has admitted his squad is down to the bare bones after losing another two players to injury during Wednesday's 2-1 win over St Mirren.
The Gers kept up the pressure on SPL leaders Celtic but the points came at a cost as DaMarcus Beasley and Sasa Papac both picked up injuries.
The duo will join the injured quartet of Kenny Miller, Lee McCulloch, Kirk Broadfoot and Kyle Lafferty plus banned duo Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor on the sidelines for Saturday's visit of Motherwell.
"Beasley is in hospital. I'm not quite sure what the result of that is yet," said Smith.
"He certainly took a bad knock on the ribs, which led to him having to come off.
"Papac has had stitches too.
"We have lost the boys who went off tonight for the weekend's game and we just have to try to make the most of what we have."
