Smith won't stop with Healy

Rangers manager Walter Smith is hoping to recruit another player before the end of the transfer window following the capture of David Healy. The Scottish champions on Sunday confirmed the signing of Healy from Sunderland until the end of the season, before then defeating Motherwell to book their place in the final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup. With a striker now in place to plug the gap left by Kenny Miller's departure to Bursaspor, Smith now faces a race against time to beat the transfer deadline as he bids to strengthen his defence. Smith said: "We have been trying for the last few days unsuccessfully, apart from David Healy, and we will continue to try. Whether we will be successful or not, we will have to wait and see. If we can add someone, it would probably be a defender." Miller had netted 22 goals this season before quitting Ibrox and Smith now expects boyhood Rangers fan Healy to step up to the mark. He added: "He's a goalscorer, he's someone who is an out and out goalscorer. He is someone who was keen to come to us and we are delighted to have him. We need that kind of thing in and around the box at the moment."
