Smith untroubled by Forbes `goal'

Rangers manager Walter Smith was phlegmatic about Ross Forbes' disallowed goal as his side drew 1-1 at Motherwell. Home boss Craig Brown was unhappy that Forbes' strike was chalked off for offside, but while Smith admitted that the goal should have stood, he was not prepared to lose too much sleep over the decision. "They say the boy was onside," he said of Forbes' effort tonight. "But, if I can remember correctly we had one knocked off here before with Kris Boyd. Sometimes they go for you and sometimes they go against you. I think we would have won that game if we'd got it so it balances out." The draw means Rangers now have an eight-point lead at the summit of the SPL, with Celtic's win over Hearts allowing them to edge closer to the title holders. Smith added: "We are pleased to come back to level terms in the second half of the game and I thought on the balance of the game overall, it was probably the proper result. "Ourselves and Motherwell have probably had the best record in the league over the last half-dozen games or so and we would expect a tough game."
