Smith rallies Gers for Europe

The Gers have struggled to find their best form this season with Saturday's goalless draw at home to Aberdeen their third straight stalemate in the SPL. Rangers earned a draw in their opening Group G tie with Stuttgart earlier this month and Smith believes his players will rise to the occasion again in Europe when Sevilla make the trip to Ibrox. "If we look at this season I don't think there is any doubt our best performance so far has been against Stuttgart in the Champions League," said Smith. "Where we might have struggled in our domestic situation to reach the form of last season we have shown we can reach that level in a Champions League game, which was an awkward game in Stuttgart. "The first game in the section is always an awkward one. "So we go into Tuesday night's game in the knowledge we have equipped ourselves better than we have done in the domestic matches so far." Smith is hopeful Steven Davis and Sasa Papac will be fit to face Sevilla after they missed the draw with Aberdeen through illness and injury respectively. Northern Ireland international Davis has been struggling with a virus, while full-back Papac had a hamstring injury. "We still have a doubt over Sasa Papac and Steven Davis, both of whom missed the game at the weekend. "But I'm hopeful each will still be fit for the match. Obviously, though, there is still an element of doubt and it will be Tuesday before we'll know for certain. "Sasa may do a bit of light jogging on Monday but that's all we'll ask of him and we'll look to see how his injury is again in the morning. "I think Steven and Sasa have both been important players for us and we're looking forward to getting both of them back." Sevilla 11/10, Rangers 21/10, Draw 9/4
