Smith open to offers

Walter Smith has revealed he turned down the chance to return to the English top flight over the past 12 months as he declared himself open to offers when he leaves Rangers next month. Smith will make way for assistant Ally McCoist at the end of the season after going back on his initial decision to leave his position as Rangers manager for a second time last summer. But the former Everton boss has reiterated he could continue working in football. In an interview in the League Managers Association's The Manager magazine, Smith said: "When you leave a job at 63 everyone assumes that it's because of your age. It doesn't necessarily mean I am going to retire. If the right opportunity arose elsewhere, then of course I would consider it. "I've had opportunities to go back to England on a couple of occasions, the most recent being at the start of the season. "It was a good Barclays Premier League club but I didn't think it was right to leave Rangers when I had just agreed to stay for one more season."
