Smith looks to Naismith in Champions League

Walter Smith is hoping Steven Naismith is the man to unlock the Bursaspor defence on Wednesday night when Rangers look to build on their good start in the Champions League. Following a resolute defensive display during a creditable goalless draw at Old Trafford during their first Champions League group fixture, the onus will be on the Gers to take the match to the Turks who slumped to a 4-0 reverse at home to Valencia. Smith lavished praise on Naismith following a classy display in the club's 3-2 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie, in which he unselfishly set up the winning goal for Nikica Jelavic. He said: "He has given us a good level of form so far this season. It has been the consistency that has been most pleasing. In previous seasons it has taken him a little bit of time, maybe because of injuries or because he was getting used to being settled at a big club. "He has been terrific for us this season, both in wider areas and off the front when he has played there. He has been excellent in creating goals and finishing them off. He is doing very well for us at the present moment."
