The third-choice goalkeeper has quit Ibrox after two years in a bid to play first-team football with the Scottish Premier League new boys. He follows Christian Dailly and Brahim Hemdani out of the exit door since the end of last season. Smith, 26, was recruited by Rangers on a free transfer from Kilmarnock in June 2007 but failed to force his way into the first team, finding himself behind both Neil Alexander and Allan McGregor in boss Walter Smith's plans. He made just one competitive appearance during his time with the Scottish champions, keeping a clean sheet in the 6-0 Scottish Cup win over East Stirling in January 2008.
