Smith: Gers ready for final battle

The Ibrox side triumphed on the final day of the league season to pip rivals Celtic to the championship and end their quest for a fourth successive title. Celebrations would have gone on long into the night after the 3-0 win at Tannadice on Sunday. But Smith insists it will be business as usual this week as Rangers prepare to face Falkirk in Saturday's Hampden showdown and attempt to claim a domestic double. He said: "I don't think there will be any problem with refocusing on that. "The cup final is one you can always place in the background until the league is finished. "But you always want to finish the season on a high." Falkirk's own season ended on a high at the weekend when they defeated Inverness to perform an amazing escape act and avoid relegation from the SPL. And Smith has predicted a cracker of a cup final now that league business is out of the way for both clubs. He said: "We look forward to it. Both the clubs who are competing in the cup have had a great lift with the results over the weekend. "I saw Falkirk and the pressure they were under at the weekend and they have stayed in the division so the cup final will be a welcome respite. "We have both had different pressures in the league, ourselves a far more pleasurable one. "But I think both us will be looking forward to the final."
