Goalkeeper Allan McGregor, defenders David Weir and Madjid Bougherra, midfielders Pedro Mendes and Steven Davis plus striker Kris Boyd are in the running.
And it appears manager Walter Smith and assistant McCoist have divided opinions over who should succeed Carlos Cuellar.
"It's certainly not clear cut," McCoist told Rangers World. "Myself, the gaffer and Kenny McDowell have all been arguing about it.
"It's a tough one, you can make cases for them all. Boydy for his goals, Madjid has come in and been a fantastic replacement for Carlos (Cuellar).
"Big Davie just keeps going and going and going, McGregor has been great in the sticks and Pedro and wee Steven have put in some fantastic midfield performances.
"You can make a case for all six, which is very, very peculiar because you normally have two or three who are far and away the favourites."
The winner, chosen by fans through the club's official website, will be revealed at an awards dinner on May 4.
