Short lay-off for McCulloch
01 Mar 2010 - 10:59:16
Rangers midfielder Lee McCulloch has been forced to drop out of the Scotland squad for Wednesday's friendly against the Czech Republic after picking up an ankle injury during Sunday's 1-0 victory against Celtic.
The 31-year-old former Wigan Athletic star, who retired from the international scene when George Burley was boss, had agreed to return to the Scotland squad following talks with new manager Craig Levein.
It is anticipated that McCulloch, who picked up the injury in a collision with team-mate Kevin Thomson, will not be able to return to action for up to ten days.
The Gers eventually won the Old Firm clash thanks to Mo Edu's stoppage-time goal, with boss Walter Smith saying after the game: "I thought we weren't going to get the goal.
"We played very well in the second half especially after struggling a bit in the first. Our possession of the ball wasn't good but we started far better after the break."
