The Spanish striker was back in action for the first time in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Annan after suffering a broken cheekbone at the end of September. Sandaza, who arrived at Ibrox in the summer, is now desperate to show fans what he is capable of. He said:
"It hasn't been the best beginning for me to be honest. I know everybody expected more from me but it's a long-term contract and hopefully soon they will see the real me. I know it's not me yet."
Sandaza admits his performance was far from his best after being handed a starting role in the midweek Third Division clash. But having previously revealed the injury almost cost him his eye, he is thrilled just to be back playing football again. He said:
"To be honest, I didn't expect to play from the start but I was happy to come back.
"It's been very, very tough. It was nearly three months out and the important thing is that I have played my first game since the injury and we have won.
"It was very frustrating being out. It was nothing to do with my legs or my muscles, it was a bone in my face. I very nearly lost my eye so the important thing is that I can play again.
"Step by step, I'm getting confidence. The first game hasn't been my game but I take it as a positive that we have won and it was my first game after injury so I'm happy about that.
"I wasn't nervous that something bad was going to happen but nervous after three months out.
"The feeling before the game was tense, with nerves, but that is normal."
Meanwhile, Rangers confirmed last night they have submitted an appeal against the red card Lee Wallace picked up during the win over Annan.
