Sandaza explains Rangers snub

St Johnstone striker Francisco Sandaza has revealed he turned down the chance to join Rangers because he felt they did not value him highly enough.

The Spaniard, whose Saints deal runs out at the end of the season, rejected a pre-contract offer and Rangers manager Ally McCoist has now turned his attentions elsewhere.

Sandaza, whose impressive winner at Hibernian on Saturday was his 14th goal of the season, told several daily newspapers: "Why did I say no to Rangers? Honestly, I don't think they value me highly enough. They are trying to get me cheaply."

He added: "It's a big club and there's no doubt every player would love to play for them.

"I think that if I played for Rangers, every season I would score 25 goals or more - easily. So they have to value me properly.

"However, they have not done this with me in the pre-contract offer.

"That is why I am now waiting and focusing on scoring many goals in this league with St Johnstone."
