Cole blow for Rangers
Rangers youngster Darren Cole will miss the game against Elgin and could be out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
The defender may require surgery after being forced out of the midweek win at Annan and, if so, is unlikely to feature again this campaign.
Better news for Rangers ahead of the Irn-Bru Third Division game is the return of Lewis Macleod (virus), Lee McCulloch (ankle), Dean Shiels (calf) and Emilson Cribari (knock).
On Cole's injury, boss Ally McCoist said: "The immediate signs are that, unfortunately, it looks as though he will need an operation.
"I don't want to pre-empt the situation but, if it is an operation, we will do well to see him again this season.
"It's a real shame because he has been injured for a while. This has just come at an horrendous time for him.
"Hopefully he will handle it okay and, if it is an operation, he will just need to come back and get ready to go again and get his pre-season."
Elgin head to Ibrox for a third time and manager Ross Jack will name his side after handing late fitness tests to Jamie Duff, Paul Harkins and Graeme Beveridge.
Jack will leave Craig Gunn to decide if he wishes to play following the Friday morning funeral of his elder brother, who died suddenly over the festive period.
The Borough Briggs boss said: "We have lost our last three games and slipped from second place so I am actually pleased that we are going to face Rangers as there will be no need to lift the players.
"There will be a huge crowd there and a huge platform for the players to do well. I am sure that they will respond in the right manner."
