Rangers indebted to Miller's late strike
28 Aug 2010 - 17:14:37
Rangers came close to dropping valuable Scottish Premier League points before Kenny Miller struck late on to secure a 2-1 win over St Johnstone.
The Ibrox club's 100 per cent start to the new season looked to be under threat when they went behind in the 10th minute through Danny Grainger's opener.
Sasa Papac scrambled home equaliser on 35 minutes but Walter Smith's side struggled to make a second breakthrough on a frustrating afternoon.
That was before Miller came up with a 79th minute winner against a side who arrived in Glasgow looking for their first victory of the fledgling season.
Elsewhere, Aberdeen slipped to a first defeat of the campaign after going down 1-0 at home to struggling Kilmarnock.
Mark McGhee's side had won both of their two opening league games but Jamie Hamill's 90th minute winner at Pittodrie left the home fans stunned.
In the Highlands, Dougie Imrie fired Hamilton into a first-minute lead at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and the visitors held on for their first points of the season.
Celtic are in action at Motherwell on Sunday, alongside St Mirren at home to Hibernian and Hearts who play host to Dundee United.
