Rangers docked 10 points for administration

Published: 14 Feb 2012 - 16:53:46

Scottish champions Rangers were deducted 10 points by the Scottish Premier League after entering administration on Tuesday.

The move all but ended Rangers' title hopes as they are now 14 points behind leaders Celtic. But Rangers remain second, still nine points ahead of third-placed Motherwell.

Rangers, responding to a deadline set by the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Tuesday, appointed administrators Duff and Phelps, whom they'd already had on board as advisors.

The Glasgow giants are awaiting a tribunal verdict which could leave them with a bill of up to £75 million ($118 million, 90 million euros), should they lose their dispute with British tax authorities.
