Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn 'recovering well' - manager Mark Warburton
Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn is still awaiting a diagnosis on his hamstring injury but manager Mark Warburton has reported major improvement.
Waghorn left the pitch distraught on Saturday after pulling up with hamstring pain late in Rangers' 1-1 home draw against Hamilton in their Ladbrokes Premiership opener.
Warburton said at his Monday media conference: "He's having a scan (on Tuesday). He's recovering well, hopefully.
"Whether it was nerve-related, we will have to wait and see.
"You can't tell but he certainly feels a lot more comfortable the last couple of days than immediately after the incident, so hopefully it has calmed down.
"If it was spasm-related then we will find out."
Waghorn will miss Tuesday's Betfred Cup visit of Peterhead along with Josh Windass, who does have a nerve issue in his hamstring area which will keep him out of training for another few days.
There will be other changes with the likes of Matt Gilks, Lee Hodson, Jordan Rossiter and Joe Dodoo coming into the starting line-up.
"We will mix it up, but we will mix it up with the point of using the squad," Warburton said.
"It's full respect to Peterhead. They have put out a Premiership team already and we are well aware of their cup tradition."
Peterhead welcome captain Simon Ferry back after a suspension as they look to bounce back from Saturday's 4-0 defeat against Alloa.
Manager Jim McInally said: "It was a disappointing result but we know where it came from as there were some errors made that were punished severely.
"There were aspects of the game that we were pleased about but we have not had much time to work with the players. Hopefully we can be error-free in this game.
"Rangers will be in very determined mood after drawing with Hamilton at the weekend, and that makes a hard job even harder."
