Winger sits out Annan visit

Third Division leaders Rangers will be without David Templeton for their home game against Annan.

The winger has an Achilles injury and will sit out the clash at Ibrox.

Elsewhere, Ross Perry, Lewis Macleod, Kevin Kyle and Darren Cole remain in the treatment room.

Ahead of the match, Rangers manager Ally McCoist has confirmed that Dundee United captain Jon Daly is one of a number of players he is interested in as he looks ahead to next season.

A transfer embargo means McCoist is restricted to targeting players who are out of contract in the summer as he is only able to register free agents from September 1 under the terms of the signing ban.

The former Scotland international said: "We have to sign players whose contracts are up at the end of the season.

"I`m very aware and respectful that these players are still with other clubs and I wouldn`t want to do or say anything that would influence them in any way in their relationship with their own clubs.

"All I would say is that Jon is one of a number of players we are looking at and are interested in.

"There has been contact between the two clubs and there has been contact between club and agent but there is nothing more concrete to tell you on that one."

Teenager Steven Black will make his Annan debut against the champions-elect at Ibrox.

Peter Watson will remain out with a thigh injury so Black, and 18-year-old signed on loan from Queen of the South, will go straight into the starting line up.

Graeme Ramage is also missing due to a knee injury, with back-up goalkeeper Craig Summersgill struggling to make it after being injured in training on Thursday night.

The Galabank men have not won in seven games but manager Jim Chapman said: "We have been playing well and we are not a million miles away from any team so I am not fearful of going to Ibrox.

"In lots of ways it is a great game to go into as no-one expects us to do anything in it."
