Rangers will face Swedish side Malmo or Torshavn of the Faroe Islands in the Champions League third qualifying round.[LNB] Malmo are currently in pole position to take on Ally McCoist's side after a 2-0 [LNB]victory in the first leg, with a trip to Torshavn to come on Tuesday.[LNB]The Scottish champions will be at home in the first leg on 26/27 July with the second leg on 2/3 August.[LNB]"I think it's a good draw," Gers boss Ally McCoist told Sky Sports News. "It's champions against champions. We've won the domestic championship 54 times and Malmo have won it 19 times.[LNB]"From a mouth-watering fixture point of view it's potentially good. Let's not forget the Faroe Island team are not out of the mix. It's a fair draw. [LNB]"I think we would have probably preferred to avoid them as they are in midseason, but I don't think there's any good draws in Europe anymore and that's the strength of European football."[LNB]Gers are looking to reach the group stage of the club competition for the third consecutive season and Russell insists it is imperative for the fans that they remain ambitious.[LNB]However, he is refusing to discuss how much money McCoist might be able to spend from their European adventure or whether will be upping their offer for Espanyol defender Raul Rodriguez.[LNB]"The expectation at the club like Rangers is massive. This is the third season in a row we're in the Champions League so, albeit at the qualifying stage at this point," he continued.[LNB]"From a fans point of view it's what they expect. It's a great history we have in Europe and we want to move that forward.[LNB]"We've undergone a change of ownership. We're looking to build and develop the club. It's too early to say how we'll be spending the money. There's no doubt there's aspirations to progress in Europe and do far better as a club. [LNB]"We don't speculate on individual transfers until we've got them signed sealed and delivered. It would be inappropriate to comment on any particular player at this time."[LNB]The draw for the third qualifying round of the Champions League is as follows:[LNB]FK Mogren/ Litex Lovech v Skonto FC/ Wisla Krakow; Maccabi Haifa/ FK Borac v NK Maribor/ F91 Dudelange; HJK Helsinki/ Bangor City v Dinamo Zagreb/ Neftci PFK; KS Skenderbeu/ APOEL FC v Slovan Bratislava/ Kostan; Copenhagen v Shamrock Rovers/ FC Flora Tallin; Genk v FK Partizan/ FK Skendija; Rosenborg BK/ Breidablik v FC Pyunik/ Viktoria Plzen; FC Zestafoni/ Dacia Chisinau v SK Strurm Graz/ Videoton Valletta; FK Ekranas v Linfield FC/ Bate Borisov; Rangers v Malmo FF/HB Torshavn; Standard Liege v FC Zurich; FC Twente v FC Vaslui; Benfica v Trabzonspor; Dynamo Kiev v Rubin Kazan; Odense BK v Panathinaikos.[LNB]First-leg matches to be played on July 26/27.[LNB]Second-leg matches to be played on August 2/3.
