Rangers seal swoop for Kerkar

Rangers have finally secured the signature of Salim Kerkar following protracted attempts to sign the French-Algerian midfielder.[LNB] He will join the Scottish champions on a short-term deal until the end of the season subject to international clearance, according to the club's official website.[LNB]Boss Walter Smith has been impressed by the 23-year-old, who has been training with the first-team squad at their Murray Park base.[LNB]But Smith appeared to end his interest in the player after it emerged former club Gueugnon were seeking compensation after releasing him in the summer.[LNB]However, a deal has finally been thrashed out and Kerkar will be eligible for first-team fixtures for the remainder of the season once he has gained the relevant international clearance.[LNB]Assistant manager Ally McCoist told the club's website: "He is a lad who is shaping up well. He is a nice lad but more importantly he has a good left foot."[LNB]
