Rangers goalkeeper Grant Adam is due to appear in court here on Monday charged in connection with a sectarian breach of the peace, police said.

The 20-year-old, the brother of the team's former midfielder Charlie Adam, is alleged to have committed the offence in Glasgow in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said: "We can confirm a 20-year-old male has been charged in connection with an alleged sectarian breach of the peace, in relation to an incident in Ingram Street on Sunday November 6."

Grant Adam has been a member of the Old Firm club since leaving school and is now the third-choice keeper for the team.

Charlie Adam, 25, is now a Liverpool midfielder and has played for the Scottish national team.
