Papac poised to pen new deal
04 Nov 2008 - 14:32:23
Rangers defender Sasa Papac is expected to sign a contract extension later this week.
The Bosnian, who moved to Ibrox in August 2006, currently has a deal that expires at the end of this season, but is poised to pen a new contract that will add two further years to his stay in Glasgow.
When asked about the 28-year-old's contract talks, Gers boss Walter Smith said: "I'd hope that would be done this week. I hope that will all be sorted out as he's being doing well for us.
"He's made the adjustment from being a centre-half to left-back. At the start, he played left-back like a centre-half but now has shown a football side to him as he's a really good footballer.
"He's adapted and shown he can get forward to good effect. All credit to him for adapting to that change.
"Like a lot of the European boys, they don't often encounter how British teams play in terms of being good aerially and being able to handle the ball a lot in the air.
"However, at left-back that's not a weakness as such and he's good enough in the air to handle that situation."
