Papac eyes Champions League return

Rangers could be set for a much-needed injury boost after Sasa Papac revealed he hopes to be back in action for their Champions League game against Bursaspor.

The full-back has been out of action since the 3-0 defeat to Hibernian in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League on November 10 when he left the pitch on a stretcher following a clash of heads.

Papac said: "This has been a difficult time for me. Injuries come and I must accept this. I am fighting now to come back on the pitch."

The wound required 10 stitches and Papac has also been suffering from concussion. He believes the length of time it has taken him to recover could be down to a car accident he was involved in five years ago.

But, with severe weather resulting in the postponement of this weekend's visit of Hearts, the Bosnian is now looking ahead to Tuesday's European clash in Turkey to make his comeback.

"I got concussion and this is the problem. My head is sometimes very sore. When I try to do training or any exercise then it is a little bit sore and this is a problem.

"I had a car accident maybe five years ago and have had some problems ever since then. Any problem with my head is difficult for me, but I always try to fight and I always want to be on the pitch. Now everything is fine and going better and better.

"My heart wants to always be on the pitch. I hope that maybe it's possible next week." Meanwhile, Papac, who is out of contract in the summer, says he is no further forward in securing a new deal.

He told RangersTV: "There is nothing new. I was in touch with the club for the first time maybe a month-and-a-half ago and since then there has been nothing. There is no big news."
