Novo to miss Old Firm clash
09 Feb 2009 - 15:28:36
Rangers striker Nacho Novo has been ruled out of Sunday's Old Firm clash with Celtic because of the ankle injury he suffered in the recent 2-0 win against Dundee United.
However, Gers boss Walter Smith has revealed that Kenny Miller will be available, even though the forward has had to pull out of Scotland's training gathering with a hamstring problem.
Smith said: "Nacho will miss the Celtic game. Unfortunately his ankle will keep him out of that one.
"We're disappointed to lose him because he's one of those players who's been starting in the team and playing well recently.
"Even as a substitute, Nacho is the type to come on and make a great impact so we'll miss him in this game and the next few we have coming up.
"It's a different situation altogether with Kenny and he'll be okay for the match at the weekend. He's getting a bit of discomfort at the top of his hamstring but the problem isn't actually in the muscle itself. He'll be fine."
