New deal for McGregor

Goalkeeper Allan McGregor has ended speculation about his future by signing a new contract to remain at Rangers.

The 24-year-old's current deal expires in the summer and after losing his place in recent weeks to Lionel Letizi could have opted to leave Ibrox in search of first-team football.

But the highly-rated youngster has vowed to remain at the SPL club and win back the number one jersey.

"We have reached an agreement with Allan until 2009 and I am very happy with that," said Gers boss Paul Le Guen.

Meanwhile, Le Guen has also confirmed that young defender Steven Smith is set to follow suit and sign a new long-term deal.
