Steven Naismith has warned that Hibernian will be looking to use their visit to Ibrox to kickstart their season.
Hibs head into the clash joint bottom of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League, with new boss Colin Calderwood still to secure his first point. Naismith knows a positive result against Rangers would be the ideal tonic for the beleaguered Edinburgh club but backed the Scottish champions to come out on top.
He said: "They will want to kickstart their season and coming to Ibrox and getting a result would do that, but we know we've got the players and we can get any team on the ropes."
Naismith added: "Hopefully we will start the game well and get an early goal and push on from there.
"They're in a wee bit of a false position at the moment. We know they are a quality team and we are not going to take them lightly. We will need to play some of our better football to win the game."
Boss Walter Smith fully expects an entertaining tussle, despite Hibs' league position.
He said: "The two matches we played against Hibs at Ibrox last season were excellent. For anybody who wants to come along and see a good game of football, I felt both of those were excellent games of football.
"They were as good as we had at Ibrox last season. Hibs have players who are capable of doing very well.
"They are having a wee sticky spell just now but they still have a level of ability within their ranks to make it difficult for the majority of teams.
"I'm sure once Colin gets his feet under the desk and gets a bit more knowledge of the players he has, they will get back on track again."
