Naismith looks forward with Scotland

The Scottish Football Association confirmed earlier this week that George Burley will remain in the post, despite failure to secure a play-off spot for the World Cup finals. Naismith was given his first international start by Burley against Holland earlier this month, earning rave reviews for his performance. And he was pleased to learn there will be no personnel changes as the Scots now turn their attentions to the next campaign. He said: "I'm delighted about being picked and the manager was very good in the squads that I've been picked for. "Now the future is settled and we know what's happening with the manager, hopefully we can put that to bed and concentrate on the next campaign." Naismith was a surprise inclusion for the visit of the Dutch, having played just eight minutes of a European Championships qualifier against the Faroe Islands in 2007. The Rangers forward is back to his best after a serious knee injury and admits the Scotland call can only help him as he attempts to finally make his mark with the Scottish champions this season. "It's a confidence-booster," he said. "The whole Scotland thing was just a major bonus for me and to get the nod against Holland was brilliant, it was great to be involved."
