Naismith keen to get Ibrox rocking

Rangers have played out three consecutive goalless draws in the SPL ahead of the visit of the Group G favourites and the home fans vented their frustration at times during Saturday's visit of Aberdeen. However Naismith believes the supporters will help Walter Smith's side lift themselves against a side sitting third in the Spanish league. "I think you're too busy worrying about the game yourself and trying to do your best for the team to worry about the reaction," he said. "We have maybe been a bit lacklustre and it's definitely a problem we need to fix sooner rather than later. "Champions League is a different night and there is a buzz around the place, and hopefully that can help us. "Ibrox on a European night creates a great atmosphere; the fans are great. "I remember coming as a fan myself and seeing the media trucks, hearing the music. It's not a normal team you're playing against. It's just all a buzz and a great feeling. "I had the opportunity against Stuttgart to come out and play and it was just a fantastic feeling. "If you're not going to get up for a Champions League game then you shouldn't be at the club." Rangers have only lost once in their last 20 European matches at Ibrox - against Lyon - and Naismith is confident they will get opportunities against Sevilla. "We showed in the last Champions League group against Stuttgart two years ago that we could get off to a good start and we want to do that again," the 23-year-old said. "I do fancy ourselves to at least get chances in the game and it will be our job to put them away." While Naismith has fond memories of European nights at Ibrox as a fan before he signed for the club, watching Rangers in the latter stages of the UEFA Cup last year was more painful. Naismith tore his cruciate ligament weeks before the final and had to watch some historic games from afar. "Going back to those days when you're sitting in your house watching the Fiorentina game and wee Nacho (Novo) sticks the penalty away, it's gutting to know you're not really involved in it," the former Kilmarnock player said. "Now we have the chance to go on another run in Europe, it's definitely something you want to be involved in."
