More bad news for Ferguson

Barry Ferguson's miserable month has hit a new low after it was confirmed that the former Rangers captain's season is over.

The 31-year-old has been told he faces six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a torn calf muscle in the opening stages of a reserve team game against Hearts' second string.

Ferguson had been stripped of the club captaincy and saw his Ibrox future placed in doubt after being banned from the Scotland national team for his high-profile misdemeanours alongside team-mate Allan McGregor while on international duty last month.

Both players were banned for two weeks by angry Gers boss Walter Smith but made their comebacks in Tuesday's second-string game.
