Miller happy despite award snub

Kenny Miller says he is enjoying his best ever season - even if his fellow pros do not feel he has done enough to earn an individual prize.[LNB] Rangers team-mates Kris Boyd, David Weir and Steven Davis - as well as Andy Webster, on loan at Dundee United - all made the short-list for the PFA Scotland player of the year award, which will be announced early next month.[LNB]Miller has also played a major role in what looks set to be another successful campaign for the Scottish champions, and would be justified in feeling aggrieved at missing out on the nominations.[LNB]But the striker believes the most important opinion is his own and, as he edges towards 20 goals this season, insists he has no complaints about his own contribution.[LNB]He said: "It's down to other people's opinions but as long as you are happy with your own contribution - which I am - then I don't need any more recognition than that.[LNB]"I've been happy with the contribution I've made to the team.[LNB]"This season, I've managed to chip in with a few more goals than last year so I've been pleased with the contribution I've made.[LNB]"It's been my best season for a few years and definitely my best in Scotland, there is no doubt about that.[LNB]"There is always a criticism about not getting enough goals but I'm one off the 20 mark at the moment and that's my immediate target, I want to get as many as I can.[LNB]"If I can get to 20 goals, it would be a good return for me."[LNB]As far as Miller is concerned, a major factor in his successful second spell at Rangers is manager Walter Smith.[LNB]And he added his voice to calls for the veteran boss to remain at Ibrox beyond the summer despite no resolution as yet to the club's search for a new owner and continuing financial uncertainty.[LNB]"I think everyone in the dressing room would like to see the gaffer and his backroom staff stay," said Miller.[LNB]"I heard Boydy (Kris Boyd) saying he is probably the most important signing we could make and I don't think anybody would disagree with that.[LNB]"What he gives you as a player is invaluable, really. We would love to see the manager and his backroom staff staying.[LNB]"I think a lot of people are hanging their hat on whether the manager will be here or not so that will be the most important signing we could make over the close-season.[LNB]"He's the best I've ever worked under. I've worked under some good managers but there is no doubt he is the best manager I've worked under and he has got the best out of me.[LNB]"A lot of other players in that dressing room would say the same thing. We've had a difficult season and yet we are still top of the league and with silverware in the bag already."[LNB]Miller will be glued to the television tomorrow hoping to see Celtic drop points against Hibernian and allow Rangers to clinch the title with a home win over Hearts on Sunday.[LNB]"I hope it is at Ibrox," he said.[LNB]"We could have had it wrapped up by now but we've had a couple of results that haven't gone our way in the last few weeks.[LNB]"If Hibs can do us a favour on Saturday and we can take care of our business on Sunday, that will be it.[LNB]"The three games after that are away from home so it would be nice if we could get it done this weekend.[LNB]"We want to do it as early as possible and, if it's this weekend, we will be over the moon."[LNB]
