Miller desperate to clinch title

Kenny Miller admits he does not care about the circumstances surrounding Rangers' SPL title triumph as long as they retain their crown.[LNB] The striker helped seal a 2-0 win against Hearts on Sunday when he converted from the penalty spot after Kyle Lafferty opened the scoring at Ibrox.[LNB]The victory means Rangers can confirm their status as champions for a second successive season against Hibernian on Sunday.[LNB]And they could even have the title race wrapped up before kick-off at Easter Road if rivals Celtic fail to beat Dundee United earlier in the day.[LNB]"We'll do it any way," said Miller.[LNB]"We will assume Celtic will go and win and that we will have to win at Easter Road.[LNB]"To be honest, no matter what happens, we will still be going there trying to win the game.[LNB]"If we have already won it, it's going to take the pressure off.[LNB]"But we will be going there to win the game next week and that's what we will be focused on."[LNB]His thoughts were echoed by boss Walter Smith, who insists his side will be preparing for a win in Edinburgh regardless of events elsewhere.[LNB]He said: "When you are going to win the championship, you would always look at your own results first and foremost.[LNB]"That's what we will do. We will go to Easter Road hoping to get a win there and that's how we will approach the week."[LNB]The visit to Hibs is the first of three consecutive away games, with trips to Tannadice and Parkhead also looming - a scenario Smith has expressed dissatisfaction with since the post-split fixtures were announced.[LNB]And he admits the win over Hearts was crucial ahead of their spell on the road as they now bid to cross the finishing line as soon as possible.[LNB]"It was always going to be an important factor," said Smith.[LNB]"When you've only got two games at home after the split, you have to make sure you make the best of them.[LNB]"At one stage, we didn't look as though we were going to do that. I was pleased we managed to pick up in the second half.[LNB]"We were delighted to win, that was the main object of the exercise.[LNB]"We had a very slow start to the game and the first half was as poor as we have been at home for a little while.[LNB]"But once we lifted the pace of the game a little bit in the second half and got that first goal, then with more care we might have added a few more to that.[LNB]"It was a far better second half than first."[LNB]Miller knows it was not a vintage performance against the Jambos.[LNB]But he believes the victory was another example of the character Rangers have demonstrated throughout the campaign.[LNB]"We've dug in all season," he said.[LNB]"I can think of loads of games before the Christmas period where we were digging in and got the results.[LNB]"Now, it's highlighted more because we are going for the last few wins.[LNB]"But I don't think it's any different to a lot of games at the start.[LNB]"We've got to win, that's the main thing, and that's what we are there to do."
