Miller can't wait for Euro campaign

Falkirk, Motherwell and Aberdeen are already out of the Europa League, while Celtic's hopes of joining Rangers in the group stages of the Champions League are hanging by a thread following last week's play-off defeat by Arsenal. Hearts became the latest Scottish club to suffer disappointment on the continental stage when they suffered a crushing 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb, which has all but ended their European adventure. But, despite watching their fellow SPL teams fail to cope, Miller claims Rangers are relishing the prospect of testing themselves against the cream of Europe. He said: "We are looking forward to it, there is no doubt about that. We missed it big time last year and we are craving it this year. "We are straight into the group stages so we can sit back and enjoy the qualifiers this time around without having to worry about going through. "We can look forward to the draw next week because missing out last year was a big loss for us. "We are just focusing on ourselves and hope we can progress in the Champions League. We put the pressure on ourselves. "We want to play in this competition and pit ourselves against the best teams in Europe and we want to progress. "We are not going to kid ourselves and say we are going to win it. But we showed a couple of years ago that we could go all the way to a European final so we just want to progress and take it from there." If Panathinaikos and Sporting Lisbon fail to come through the play-offs, Rangers will move up to pot two in next week's draw for the group stages. Miller added: "It should work to our advantage, we should have an easier couple of teams if we go into pot two. "But the Champions League is tough and we have seen that over the last couple of years. It's always going to be tough to get through to the knockout stages." Rangers face a Hearts side who will be reeling from back-to-back defeats at the hands of Dundee United and Dinamo Zagreb when they travel to Tynecastle for Sunday's SPL clash. Miller said: "They have been beat on Monday night and then taken a heavy defeat last night so I'm sure they will want to get on home soil and get some points on the board. "We will have to be wary because Tynecastle is always a hard game. But we are up for it, we're ready and we will go there to get the three points." Meanwhile, Miller is hoping last week's double against Falkirk will bolster his chances of beating last season's tally of 13 goals - but he admits he has no hope of stealing Kris Boyd's crown as the club's top goalscorer. He said: "Getting the result is the priority but getting a couple of goals was great. "As a striker you always want to get off the mark early doors. It was a good result, good performance and I was buzzing to get a couple of goals. "It's not any different from last season, I want to be part of a successful team. I want to stay fit, I want to stay in the team and my target is basically to beat what I got last year. "I should have had a few more goals last year, I should have been pushing 20 and if I can better that this year then great. "I've got off to a good start and I'll just look to build on that at the weekend. Boydy is always going to be our main goalscorer, that's the way it is, that's the kind of player he is."
