Miller bids fond farewell to Rangers

Kenny Miller has described his most recent spell at Rangers as the best of his career and said walking out of Ibrox was a difficult decision.

The 31-year-old striker is poised to sign for Bursaspor today after Rangers agreed a fee in principle with the Turkish Super Lig defending champions. Miller's contract with Rangers was due to expire in the summer and he had been linked with a host of clubs, including Birmingham and Fiorentina.

He told the Scottish Sun: "The actual moment I said goodbye to everyone was hard. Walking away wasn't easy. It was quite emotional. There's no doubt the two and a half years I had at Rangers have been the best time of my career."

He added: "You always get nerves when you leave a club and you're thinking about what's ahead, but this was different. I really enjoyed my time there and walking away from that wasn't easy. It's crunch time when you're actually going around the dressing room shaking all the lads by the hand.

"These guys are my best mates and boys I've been through a lot with. As much as the decision itself wasn't hard, actually walking out the door was tough."

Miller scored 56 goals in 108 appearances for Rangers after arriving from Derby to vocal opposition from a significant portion of the Ibrox support in the summer of 2008.

He will depart for about a quarter of the £2million fee paid to Derby, but has helped the club to two Clydesdale Bank Premier League titles and his 22 goals this season have seen Rangers mount a strong challenge for the hat-trick.

"He made a wonderful contribution for the period that he was here," assistant manager Ally McCoist told Blues News. "Kenny has been great for the club and equally the club has been great for Kenny. It's been a good partnership.

"If the deal does go through then he will go with our blessing and our thanks. Having said that, we are disappointed to see him go because he has been an integral part of the team over the past two-and-a-half seasons.

"You can understand why he has made the decision he has. All he was doing was exercising his right to look around, like any other player who is coming to the end of his contract."
