Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has failed in an appeal to have his red card from Saturday's Scottish Cup fifth round tie with Hibernian overturned.
McGregor was given his marching orders in the 87th minute of the goalless stalemate at Easter Road by referee Craig Thomson.
He was adjudged to have fouled Hibs forward Dean Shiels on the edge of the penalty box despite claiming he took the ball.
However, McGregor will now miss the replay - which is scheduled to take place next month - after having an appeal rejected.
"In accordance with the provisions for claims of wrongful dismissal, the referee is given the opportunity to review the circumstances of the sending off," read a statement from the Scottish Football Association.
"Craig Thomson has indicated that he is content with his decision to send the player off. The claim is therefore dismissed."
