McGregor puzzled by Pittodrie record
Allan McGregor wants Rangers to put Pittodrie pain behind them by winning at Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.[LNB] The Ibrox side have not won away to Aberdeen in almost four years and that is a statistic the champions, and McGregor in particular, will be hoping to change.[LNB]Libor Sionko and Nacho Novo were the goalscorers when Rangers ran out eventual winners back in December 2006.[LNB]And goalkeeper McGregor - who was part of that team - believes it is time Walter Smith's men improved their record in the Granite City.[LNB]He said: "I'm not quite sure why it's such a difficult place to go to.[LNB]"When teams outside the Old Firm go to Pittodrie the crowds are not as big and the atmosphere is not as intense, so perhaps the players find it more difficult to get up for those games.[LNB]"We haven't won up there for a long time. Hopefully we can this weekend."[LNB]McGregor believes a combination of the pressure being off the Dons players and their desire to raise their game against the Old Firm has played a part in Rangers' unconvincing form at the venue.[LNB]"When Rangers and Celtic go up there it's maybe easier for them as they aren't expected to get anything from the game and try a little bit harder when the adrenaline is pumping," he told Rangers News.[LNB]He added: "I think that's the case with most teams in the SPL. Playing the Old Firm is like a cup final and they haven't got anything to lose as such.[LNB]"That's the way I see it anyway, but it's true that we have never had it easy at Pittodrie and I'm sure it will be another battle this weekend."
