Allan McGregor believes Rangers have a point to prove in the Champions League as they prepare to face Manchester United in their opening game.[LNB] Rangers endured a miserable campaign in Europe last term finishing bottom of their group and seeing their European involvement ended before Christmas.[LNB]McGregor is determined to improve on that this season and has set his sights on reaching the last 16 of Europe's premier competition.[LNB]"I think we have a [point to prove]," McGregor told Sky Sports News Radio. "Last year was very disappointing, especially with the group we were in, we felt confident with the draw we could advance to the last 16 but that wasn't to be.[LNB]"We ended up bottom of the group so I think all the boys who were involved last year have got something to prove this time even though it is a very difficult group."[LNB]McGregor is relishing the Battle of Britain showdown with United and he admits he would take a draw if it was offered to him.[LNB]"I am quite confident and all the boys are as well," added McGregor.[LNB]"Obviously Man Utd are a top class team across Europe, but I suppose if we give it our best shot and work really hard you never know what can happen."[LNB]Asked if he would be happy with a point from the trip to Old Trafford, McGregor replied: "I would take your hand off for a point right now to be honest.[LNB]"A point would be a great result for us, especially away from home in our first game in the Champions League, but as I have said it is going to be very difficult and we just need to wait and see what happens."
