McDowall: Trust in Smith

Kenny McDowall has told Rangers fans to ignore Celtic's busy recruitment drive and have faith in Walter Smith getting players in for the new season. The cash-strapped Ibrox club have yet to see a new summer signing - indeed Rangers' last incoming player arrived almost two years ago - whereas their Old Firm rivals had confirmed six new signings by the times they jetted to Portugal this morning for the first leg of their Champions League qualifier against Sporting Braga. Speaking in an interview being shown on RangersTV.tv, former Celtic reserve-team coach McDowall said: "We're trying hard to get new faces in. "Hopefully that will happen shortly but, in the meantime, we've just got to keep working away. "I understand why people want new players to come in now but we've still got five weeks of the transfer window to go. "That's quite a length of time and as the end of that period closes in, things generally start to get a bit busier."
