Rangers manager Walter Smith expects to be without Lee McCulloch for the vast majority of the season.
The midfielder went under the knife on Tuesday in a bid to cure a knee problem that has been troubling him for months. Reports had suggested McCulloch's season was over and Smith concedes the 32-year-old's involvement in the remainder of the campaign could be minimal.
He said: "A lot depends on the player's reaction to the operation. He got the cyst removed and the operation went successfully. At the present moment, we would look at him being out for the vast majority of the season."
