McCulloch backs Healy to shine

Lee McCulloch believes David Healy will be a good addition to the Rangers squad but does not think he will be a Kenny Miller mark two.

The Ibrox side's top scorer with 22 goals was sold to Turkish club Bursaspor earlier in January with Healy, 31, being brought in as his replacement on Sunday. The Northern Ireland international has signed until the end of the season after leaving Sunderland but McCulloch played down comparisons with Miller.

"Anyone who plays up front for us gets compared to Kenny," said the Rangers midfielder. "I don't think David is the same sort of player. He has different attributes. But just as long as he is banging in the goals, that's all that matters."

He added: "He may need a little bit of sharpness and game time but he has a good record everywhere he has gone so I think he will be a good signing."

McCulloch helped the Light Blues win through to the the Co-operative Insurance Cup final with a 2-1 victory over his former club Motherwell at Hampden on Sunday,

Steven Naismith's second-half winner in a hard-fought game set up an Old Firm clash at the national stadium on March 20.

Celtic visit Ibrox on Scottish Cup fifth-round duty next Sunday - which could go to a replay - before a Clydesdale Bank Premier League meeting in February.

There is another SPL clash between the Glasgow giants assured after the split but McCulloch does not believe you can get too much of a good thing.

"I don't think so," he said. "They are the type of games all players want to play in and that's what the fans want to see so I think it can only be a good thing.

"Celtic have done well getting to the final, as have we, and it will be about whoever performs well on the day. It will be a great occasion, brilliant for the fans and great for the players."
