McCoist: Quitting not an option

Published: 03 Feb 2012 - 14:16:54

Rangers manager Ally McCoist insists he has no intention of quitting the Scottish champions.

Rumours that McCoist could walk away from the club were rife after he emerged from Ibrox looking grim faced following a meeting with chairman Craig Whyte on transfer deadline day.

Top goalscorer Nikica Jelavic was sold to Everton but McCoist was unable to secure a replacement before the deadline. But when asked on Friday whether he thought about quitting, McCoist said: "Absolutely never."

He added: "There must have been 500 snaps of me leaving Ibrox and about 10 snaps with my face tripping me.

"My face wasn't tripping me. I can assure supporters I wasn't storming out. I'm as committed to doing this job as I've ever been."

Meanwhile, McCoist insists there is no bad feeling between the club and Jelavic over his transfer to Everton.

Ibrox chiefs and the striker on Thursday appeared to be at odds over whether the Croatian wanted to quit Ibrox or not.

McCoist said: "There is no ill feeling between any of us and Nikica.

"He was wonderful here, he's a great lad and he goes with our best wishes.

"We hope he's a success and I'm sure he will be."
